Puerto Vallarta Vacation

Puerto Vallarta has been known worldwide as a premiere deep sea fishing vacation spot. However, there are many  other attractions here that make a Puerto Vallarta vacation so enticing. Swim with dolphins in warm, tropical waters,  learn about the local Mexican culture, shop for souvenirs in outdoor markets or participate in one of the many water sport activities. Puerto Vallarta will not disappoint. Located on the Pacific Ocean's Bahía de Banderas, Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s most enchanting coastal cities and as you will see, there are many reasons we feature it as one of our best beach vacations.

At one time colonial Puerto Vallarta was a small fishing village and still retains the friendly charm of the original town. Puerto Vallarta is a resort city today, making for a luxury beach vacation destination. Remaining is the love of fishing, as Puerto Vallarta still is a top deep sea fishing destination and is probably second to Los Cabos as the most popular Mexico fishing resort area.

Puerto Vallarta Activities

Things to do in Puerto Vallarta include the annual Gourmet Dining Festival every November, and year round you can enjoy delicious, international cuisine in upscale restaurants while being entertained by Mexican folk dancing and fiestas. Or perhaps your idea of a Puerto Vallarta vacation is to experience the laid back atmosphere of beachside cafes and small family owned restaurants. Nightlife in Puerto Vallarta could find you listening to lively Cuban music or sampling Mariachi.

Puerto Vallarta excursions naturally feature water sports like snorkeling, deep sea fishing, sailing and scuba diving, but you can also find Puerto Vallarta tours for whale watching in the winter, and biking on thrilling mountain roads or along the beautiful beaches. Horseback riding tours and hiking and rainforest tours also are great options. Your beach vacation activities could also include teeing off at one of the scenic golf course, deep sea fishing and exploring hidden rocky coves.

Puerto Vallarta Attractions

Puerto Vallarta attractions include picturesque cobblestone streets, lined with adobe houses featuring red tile roofs and balconies filled with colorful flowers. Known as the culinary capitol of the world, Puerto Vallarta, also serves up delectable international cuisine.

Puerto Vallarta Travel Facts

If you are planning a Puerto Vallarta vacation, look forward to average daily highs around 86 °F (30 °C). Most of the rain falls from July through September, with August being the wettest month, averaging 14 days of significant precipitation. Don't let this scare you off though because in Puerto Vallarta most of the rain comes in concentrated storms, rather than day in and day out. February, March and April have the most sunshine. Peak travel season for a Puerto Vallarta vacation is November through March or whenever the college spring breaks take place in a given year. Puerto Vallarta resorts attract large crowds of college students during spring break as well, so early booking is even more important during those times.
