Beaches of Acapulco
Acapulco offers more than 12 miles (20 kilometers) of beaches, many with soft sand and most with calm waters. You'll find all sorts of activities to do, including just soaking up the warm sun, just about day of the year. In the evening, the sunset followed by the city lights of Acapulco make a stroll on the beach very romantic. Here is a sampling of Acapulco's beaches:
- Roqueta (Island) Beach – is a beautiful beach and with its small surf, perfect for family fun. Boat tours leave from Caleta Beach. If you go, visit the lighthouse and the zoo.
- Puerto Marques – The beaches here, all 16 of them, offer powder-soft sand and lush flora. Located 9.3 miles (15 kilometers) southeast of Acapulco, this is a nice place for families and for snorkeling because the waters are calm. Restaurants lining the shore offer local seafood and Mexican cuisine.
- Caleta and Caletilla – Known for the calm waters and gorgeous scenery, these beaches are located on Costera Miguel Aleman Avenue, across from Roqueta Island. Magico Mundo Marino amusement park is also found here with its water slides, restaurants and aquatic sport rentals.
- Icacos – Located on the southern end of the bay, this long beach is lined with hotels and all sorts of water sports rentals. Here too is the CiCi aquatic park (detailed in the Attractions section).
- Condesa – Located in the Zona Dorada area along Costera Miguel Aleman Avenue, this is one of Acapulco's most popular beaches. The bungee jump and many water sports are found here, along with restaurants, bars and shopping malls at this beach.
- Tamarindo, Hornos and Hornitos – These three beaches are located along Costera Miguel Aleman Avenue and favored for their finely textured sand and small waves.
