Day 1 - FINCA LUNA NUEVA LODGE(Arenal Volcano-San Isidro, Peñas Blancas)
- We take a private shuttle from the airport and travel approximately 3 hours through rolling hills and enchanting valleys.
- You're bound to see some wildlife as we make our way to what is considered Costa Rica's premiere Adventure Zone - The Arenal Volcano Area.
- Finca Luna Nueva Lodge and organic farm with its Sacred Seeds Sanctuary and medicinal plant garden make up the perfect place to learn about miracle natural cures like ginger, turmeric and other yummy and good-for-you-things found right in our backyards.
- OPTIONAL: Quiet nightfall hike to watchtower for magnificent views of the Arenal Volcano. Ideal for meditation, breathing and reflection. (Depending on flight arrival time: Snack/D)
Day 2 - FINCA LUNA NUEVA LODGE (Arenal Volcano-San Isidro, Penas Blancas)
- Morning Welcome Reception: We'll start the day off right as you ease your way into leaving your normal everyday life behind.
- We'll embark on an easy-going morning hike around the beautiful rainforest and farm with the legendary Steven Farrell, your host, at this elegantly rustic hotel.
- Finca Luna Nueva is one of the few certified biodynamic and organic farms in Costa Rica.
During your visit you'll see how the farm works in harmony with natural planting methods; how the water buffalo, oxen, pot-bellied pigs, goats, sheep, cows and chickens are raised in a natural way and the fruit and vegetable gardens that produce 90% of what we consume.
- Prepare yourself for an amazing, wholesome breakfast. It is your opportunity to become a gourmet organic cook by choosing products straight from the farm and learning how to cook them in a natural way.

Day 3 - FINCA LUNA NUEVA (Arenal Volcano Area-San Isidro, Penas Blancas)
After an early morning organic breakfast, you will have the opportunity to experience some of Costa Rica's most-exciting adventures…YOUR CHOICE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Lost Canyon Adventures Canyoneering: Costa Rica's newest, most-unique, high-end adventure with 8 tropical waterfalls – canyon hiking & rappelling down waterfalls
- Full-day Class 3-4 Whitewater Rafting on the mighty Rio Toro with 45 continuous rapids
- Class 2-3 whitewater and wildlife rafting on the Río Balsa
- Safari Float on the beautiful Peñas Blancas River
- Caño Negro motorized river tour
- Canopy zipline tour over the top of the rainforest

After a full morning of adventure, you have the option to head out on a group hike through the rainforest to the base of the famous Arenal Volcano with a naturalist guide. If Mother Nature is cooperating, you'll be able to see molten rock spewing down the side of the volcano. Day 4 - FINCA LUNA NUEVA (Arenal Volcano Area-San Isidro, Penas Blancas)
Rise and shine with a scrumptious breakfast. Then take time to see more of the real Costa Rica's Community, Culture and Conservation Tour - Think Globally, Act Locally!:
- AMURECI woman's arts and crafts recycled paper workshop co-op
- Proyecto Asis Animal Rescue Shelter for a 30-minute walk where we will feed wild animals such as crocodiles, wild boars, monkeys and learn about local efforts to rehabilitate injured, abandoned animals and release them back to their environment
- Visit the Don Carlos milking parlor and learn about traditional milking techniques still used on this beautiful dairy farm - if you're lucky, you'll even get to milk your own cow!
- Enjoy yummy, traditional Costa Rican cuisine and evening to enjoy the environs of La Fortuna. Dinner on your own. (B, L)
Day 5-6 Playa Samara - Hotel Belvedere or equivalent (Samara, Nicoya Penninsula)
After a healthy tropical breakfast, get ready for a drive along the picturesque Lake Arenal for excellent views of our colossal mountain in the background and rainforest all around you in your private shuttle to Samara. - Surf, Sun, Snorkel & Spa Treatments!Time to relax on the beach, soak up the sun or enjoy the water on your surfboard. For a change of pace, explore the underwater scenery with a snorkeling excursion. (B, L)

Day 7 - AIRPORT TRANSFER
Wake up and then it's back to reality - airport transfer.

Important Information, policies & guidelines:
- The natural environment of Costa Rica is filled with insects, snakes, crocodiles and a variety of other wildlife, so we may not be held responsible for an encounter with any of the above.
- For reasons beyond our control (climate, river levels, etc.), the Head Guides may change to a more-suitable river or tour with an equal or similar difficulty rating and adventure-appeal. Head Guides also have the right to cancel any trip due to unsafe conditions and will only run a tour according to established company policies. They may also refrain any client seen unfit to do a tour for their own safety and/or the safety of clients and guides. Full refund is given if (on rare occasion) no tour is run
- Rafting, canyoneering, horseback riding & many other adventures involve some inherent risk and physical exertion, so you must be in good physical condition without any recent surgery, heart condition, pregnancy or injury. If you take medication such as allergy pills and need them with you or have other medical concerns, please inform the Head Guide.
- The maximum weight limit for whitewater rafting, canyoneering and horseback riding is 200 lbs. We may make an exception for our canyoneering tour if your waistline is less than 42-inches.
- You must wear secure shoes and clothing to get wet in. We highly recommend closed shoes for hikes, canyoneering and horseback. For rafting tours, we recommend that you are a competent swimmer.
- Clients must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- We recommend you leave your valuables; jewelry, camera, passport, etc. in your hotel's safe. You may also leave items in the bus, as our driver will stay with the vehicle at all times. Desafío Adventure Company and its affiliates are not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.

What to Bring
It's best to pack light: 1 backpack and small day backpack is recommended, passport (with 2 copies kept separately), casual clothing (shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, 1 light jacket, rain gear) and some more-formal clothing for evening activities. You will have the opportunity to send clothing for washing during the trip. Hiking boots and/or tennis shoes, secure sandals, swim suit, hat, suntan lotion, any necessary personal medicine, long pants or jeans for horse riding, camera, additional money in the form of traveller's checks (to change at local banks) or credit card is recommended.
Cancelation Policy
Cancellations for day tours must be made no later than 48 hours prior to the service. For package tours cancelled less than one-month in advance, we cannot give a full refund as many hotels do not allow for short-notice cancellations (see policy below.) No refunds for no shows.
