Hawaii Beaches – Oahu

Some of the best beaches in the United States, maybe even the world, are found on Oahu. Waikiki beaches offer tons of fun in the sun, but it's well worth a drive or tour around the island to visit some of these beaches...

• Hanauma Bay -  Number one on Dr. Beach's 2004 list, Hanauma offers the best offshore snorkeling in Hawaii with its safe, calm waters. The crescent shaped beach with white sand offset by the blue waters and majestic palms, was a featured setting in Blue Hawaii.  

• Lanikai – Another Dr. Beach favorite, this Hawaii beach is located in an upscale neighborhood near Kailua. Due to its uncrowded atmoshpere and pristine white sand beach, Lanikai Beach is favored by photographers of Hawaii's calendar models. Lanikai, meaning "heavenly waters", lives up to its name by providing its guests with breathtaking emerald green waters and an invitingly gentle surf. 

• Kailua Bay – This beach is perfect for families because of its generally small surf, long stretch of sand, and supervision by life guards. Wind surfing is popular here as well. 

• North Shore Beaches – The best features of these beaches include exquisite sunsets and front row seats to world championship surfing at places like Waimea Bay. In the summer, the waters turn calm and swimmer friendly.
